I'm not the best with this operating system, so forgive me if i'm wrong, but i had the same problem, and i think i fixed it by changing the boot device from cd/dvd drive to hard drive, then back again... if that doesn't help, then sorry, i'm all out of ideas, good luck

ok, now i have a new problem.

I opened up the machine, set the DVD-RW drive to Master, and I put the external drive inside the machine, but now it just freezes at the screen where you press F12 to enter BIOS.

Also, it sees the DVD drive as 'IDE Channel 0 Master: DVD'
and the HDD as 'IDE Channel 0 Slave : aaaaaaa aaa

    Help??

Sorry, I just oped up again, and it turns out the IDE cable hadn't gone all the way into the socket.

Still has the 'Still Waiting For Root Device'

What does it mean, and how can it be fixed??

Any help would be MUCH appreciated!!

Are you using a SATA Drive or IDE?

If you are using IDE, Make sure you have it set to "Primary IDE Master".

If you are using SATA, chances are, that the SATA Is not recognised due to no chipset drivers.
