Well, I'm not going to say I'm an expert in any shape or form but from my experiences, it is difficult to get a decent hackint0sh going. However, once you get one up and running and it will reboot, sleep etc reliably, it should be fine unless you update it, where you might run into more problems. This can be avoided by using EFI.

Personally, I gave up. I started again this evening trying to get an install going on a custom build of mine. So far, no luck. Will be asking around for help later

EFI is provided on many install discs, I couldn't tell you how to use it properly cause I don't really know there are many tutorials about it.

An external sound card might work, it might not. It is always trial and error with hardware. Some stuff will work for some people and won't for others.

.exe files can be used on OSX using Darwine but it would be better to find the equivalent program in a OSX version or use a different program that is similar for OSX. For example (bad example) if you used Adobe Premiere Elements on Windows, you could use Final Cut Express on OSX.
