OSX Version:
10.5.2 updated with Kalyway Combo Update to 10.5.3, and with Apple Update to 10.5.4.
Builder:
Kalyway
Desktop/Laptop:
Desktop
Prebuilt:
I built this baby myself.
Installation Methods:
Installed from unmodified Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD on GUID/MBR hybrid partition created with Disk Utility. I'm using hybrid because I want to keep an NTFS storage partition on the drive and this is the only way Windows XP will be able to access it.
Windows is installed on a separate drive altogether.
Installed with Darwin/PC-EFI, modbin SSE3 kernel, no video injector, no AGPGart, no network driver, and none of the fancy things that you can install later anyway if you need them.
Sorry, I don't remember what else I picked, or didn't pick. Just don't pick anything that looks like it won't work!
I'm using the StageXNU 9.4.0 kernel and the Chameleon bootloader now.
64-bit compatibility is better for me on this kernel.
For example Chess crashes with Modbin Kernel in 64-bit mode and works with StageXNU.
Also Leopard Cache Cleaner used to tell me that 'rebooting will improve system performance' after some time on all kernels I've used previously. I've never seen this message when using the StageXNU kernel, even after leaving the system running all night.
Mainboard Area
Manufacturer:
ASUS
Model:
P5P800-SE
Chipset:
Intel 865PE, ICH5
BIOS version:
805 beta
BIOS options:
SATA set to AHCI/Native, ACPI mode to Auto, All CPU features enabled.
Automatic fan speed regulation is disabled, my fan has a manual control. I don't know if this matters though.
Onboard Audio Chipset:
Soundmax AC97 ADI 1888 device ID 0x24d5
Onboard Audio Patches:
None needed
Work Line In, Line Out, Mic:
Front mic+headphone works, rear mic input is Line Out. Other I/O not tested.
Onboard Network Card/Chipset:
Intel Pro1000/MT - device ID 0x100e - 82540EM - needs other kext
Onboard Network Patches:
IONetworkingFamily.kext from JAS 10.4.8 DVD
Onboard Network Works:
Yes, with the above kext.
With Leo kext the system freezes when there's any network traffic.
SATA Devices:
Both channels work, ICH5 seems to be very well supported.
IDE Devices:
Both channels work (slave channels untested)
Processor Area
Manufacturer / Processor Model:
Intel Pentium 4 model 651 (SSE3, EIST, EMT64, HT)
Velocity:
3.40GHz
Recognized in About This Mac as:
Unknown. I added the CPU info there myself using OSX86Tools.
800MHz bus speed and memory type is set by mac.nub AppleSMBIOS.kext.
Need Patched AppleSMBIOS.kext:
I guess. Using the latest from mac.nub with these kernel flags in boot.plist:
MemSpeed=800 MemType=DDR (plus a homegrown serial number)
I've got SpeedStepping fully working with all available p-states detected using XNU-Speedstep along with tux' beta speedstep.app set to run at login:
http://code.google.com/p/xnu-speedstep/
Reboot/Sleep/Shutdown all working.
Video Card Area
Device connection:
AGPx8 (recognized as PCI)
NVIDIA/ATI/Intel/Other?
Nvidia
Model (chipset):
7600GT
RAM Memory:
256
Manufacturer / ID:
Leadtek A7600 GT TDH - 10de02e0
Patches:
NvInject, NVKUsh or EFI string, but for some reason it will only work with Natit post 10.5.3.
Must insert device ID manually.
Here's my NVCAP which allows me to boot without unplugging TV-Out first (it disables it):
04 00 00 00 00 00 01 00 06 00 00 00 00 00 00 07 00 00 00 00
QE/CI (Quartz Express/Core Image):
Yes
QLG (Quartz GL):
Yes
Mirror:
Off (untested)
Dual Screen:
Haven't tried
All resolution available:
Yes.
When using DVI I get screen corruption when switching resolutions and have to reboot to restore normal display. Does not happen with VGA.
Discussed here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=70007
misc hardware:
Logitech cordless USB mouse/keyboard, fully supported using Logitechs own drivers
Logitech USB Quickcam Pro 9000 - support built-in
Canon Digital Ixus V2 camera via USB - working flawlessly.
USB HID PlayStation Controller adapter with two controller ports from Play.com - support built-in
E-MU XMIDI 1x1 USB MIDI interface - support built-in
SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeMusic PCI card - not supported.
Thoughts
I'm pretty happy with this system, the P5P800-SE seems to be a very good, stable and well supported board for running OSX on an SSE3 capable Pentium 4. With the Pentium D 960 (SL9K7) and some more RAM it would really fly (not that it doesn't already).
The only downside I can think of is the AGP port being recognized as PCI which means that if you want good framerate in games you have to play at 640x480. Otherwise graphics performance in daily use is great.
I hope someone finds this information useful.

This place ( http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=37447 ) is only for database, not for help.
SnowLeopard is for only ADC Apple Developers and ToH Staff Development.
You need a special bootloader. Only ToH Staff has it. And for now, we don't share it.
Thanx to understand. Don't beg, plzkthx.

The template ought to denote whether or not sleep works and how to get it to work.
