Default Gigabyte P35-DS3L hangs on boot. Please advise...

This is my first attempt at a Hack rig so excuse my noobishness.

I've used Kaido's (weeksauce12) guide from the Anandtech forum... http://forums.anandtech.com/messagev...readid=2242545

The issue I'm having is that my installation hangs on boot at the apple logo screen. I started up in verbose mode and this is what I see loading when the lockup occurs... (picture below) Any ideas on what I should do to fix this?

With some help from an Anandtech member, I realized that I hadn't combined the EFI strings for gfx and ethernet. Now that I've done that, I'm booting into a black login screen with just the mouse pointer. Any ideas?

    Oh yeah! Sorry.

    Gigabyte P35-DS3L
    Intel C2D 2.4ghz (E2200 I think)
    Asus 7300GT Silent 512MB
    4gigs Ram
    160gig WD
    Liteon DVD

Let me know if you need anymore info. I just booted with "-v -f" and the one thing I did notice is that one of the last things on the screen (that I could read) is a message something to the effect of "display: family specific matching fails".

Ok lets try this ok? Cuz your mobo its good, not sure about your Video, but good mobo, so...

Go to the BIOS then on Integrated Peripherals change to AHCI MODE.

If you have the same problem, then try with kalyway or leo4all, good luck
