Talking Is this even possible much less a good idea?

I want install Mac OS on my Compaq Presario CQ61 laptop. I am currently downloading Leopard 10.5.1 for AMD (what I have) and am even going as far as downloading Tiger 10.4 to be installed first (this was recommended). My dream is to have it side by side with Win 7. I have no experience with Mac so this is just a trial balloon. I don't want to crash myself, ruin my files, or just plain waste my time. Any thoughts? I would be interested in anyones knowledge. I am in my infancy with computer knowledge in general, but learning fast. Any advice and I would be grateful.

Ever thought that other members, who try to help starters, waste their personal times just by answering questions.

So, to be a bit better, why don't you post your system specs, relevant to OSX installation first, so people don't have to go searching around the net just to help you out?

Good point. Sorry about that. Running AMD Sempron M120 2100 MHz CPU with AMD M880G w/ ATI Radeon HD 4200 video. 2G RAM and 250G HD. Win7 Home Premium 64bit is the current OS and I'd like to run both if possible. I am at best a novice but want to learn what I can. I do appriciate your time.

There may be some issues with your installation, particularly your CPU/chipsets/video, but video driver would be the last thing to worry about.

As for chipsets, find out if your HDD is SATA type, and if you have option in BIOS for SATA to AHCI.

As for your CPU, it won't take the vanilla kernel, so a mod kernel would be needed.

Since your system can handle win7, it would be better to install SL instead of Leopard, if you can find a distro release with all essential drivers/kexts.

But for AMD system, Hazard distro could be the first choice. Although iAtkos S3 v2 is much better/newer, you need to find out if it does indeed have all the required kexts.

As for dual booting, you need to review the dual booting section for guides/methods of proper installation so it won't mess up your computer.
