    Hi,
Well, that is some good steps you've made.
That screen could be related to video card with wrong kext, kernel etc.

    If you boot with options

    -x -v
and have the possible error message then it would be easier.
At Darwin/Chameleon screen, upon booting, if there is a blue bar countdown then press any key, if not press F8, then type your boot option, then press enter.

During installation, at the customization screen, make note of your selection so that you can refer to, for OSX problems.

    Hi,
After you finish the installation, then eject the DVD.
It should boot with your installed Chameleon.

I took a quick look at the specs about your video card, X2600, and it is the ATI kext/driver that made the screen goes black.

    1. Need to install without any video driver to get to OSX first.
    2. If there is still black screen then need to delete all the ATI kext/driver in the installer/DVD before installation.

Try this see if it help.
In tutorial section, there is a guide for Ideneb that should let you be familiar with all the selection choices.

Here is the pictorial guide for Ideneb 1.4 10.5.6

Your installation would be similar, but no video driver package for now.

And keep track of all your selections for later reference to problems, if any.

Don't select any video driver package. Yes, usually you need to select one of the bootloader.
If you install Chameleon, then just press F8 at Darwin screen, or any key at the blue countdown bar, then OSX and win7 will be there for boot selection.
Win7 will be booted from a volume named System Reserved.
