Drive not being read on install, latest iDeneb
Hi, I have decided to try and make a hackintosh. I allotted 40GB of space to it. It's unallocated space a la Vista's disk manager. I have:
500GB WD black caviar
4Gb DDR2 800MHz
AMD Phenom 9950 BE @ 3GHz (SSE2 etc etc
latest iDeneb release
I read somewhere that enabling AHCI allows the disk to be read. I did so, and it only showed my NTFS partitions, my XP and vista ones, but not the unallocated space. What's more, XP and Vista would BSOD if I tried to boot with AHCI enabled, so it's not an option to keep. as a non-RAID setting, I have no problems with XP or Vista but now "Where do you want to install" has nothing in the window.
How do I get everything to work at once? Help me please, you've done a damn good job getting it to work on so many different system configs, but it's still difficult to comprehend. Thanks
I believe your unallocated space needs to formatted as fat32 first. I am no expert though. How did you enable AHCI? None of my hard drives show up. My 2 gig thumb drive will, but I don't want to install on that.
yes it shouldn't be unallocated ... you need to create the partition ... in vista, create the partition but no need assign a drive letter or even format it ... a raw partition will do
