Default Do I need to format my HD first?

    Guys,

I was trying to install OSX on my PC. I got the Kalyway disc, and I'm trying to get it installed on a completely new hard drive. This hard dive has not been formated since it is new. So I wanted to know if I should format this HD first or simply start the installation and format later?

I'm asking because I can't seem to get the installation to work. It starts up then stops and I can't do anything after that point.

I was thinking it might me caused by the hard drive not beaing formated yet.

Any advice would be greatly appriciated.

    Thanks

    S
