So I'm new to the whole Hackintosh community, found out about when trying to search for a cheap iMac and figured I should give it a shot. I have a Family Pack Retail version of OS X 10.5.6 and download the Boot 132 ISO (in numerous variations) from various sites and have found one that actually gets me into the Apple Installer screen. Once there I go to the Disk Utility and then I get one of three problems:
1. The Screen freezes and just hangs trying to load the Disk Utility (I've left it for an hour to see if maybe it was just going slow)
2. The screen goes gray with an error message saying I need to restart my computer and restart the installation
3. I get a Partition Failed error stating there was an input/output error and then the Drive is no longer visible in the Installer.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, except for maybe that I have an IDE DVD Drive and a SATA Hard Drive, and have read in some places that both need to be the same (either IDE to IDE or SATA to SATA), or if I need to adjust the Boot 132 Disk first (although I don't know where to start on this one). Any help would be great since I don't want to be stuck with Windows, and unfortunately I cant use Linux anymore since some of the applications I need don't work very well in any of those Distros. Here's my computers specs as well:

EVGA 132-CK-NF79 nForce 790i Ultra SLI ATX MoBo
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 CPU
GeForce 8800 GT Video Card
400 GB Seagate SATA Hard Drive (Brand new with no partitions).
