I just installed ideneb on a dimension 3000

It's a p4 3.2 ghz
2GB ram and 100gb HDD

At install I installed the voodoo kernel and the ICHx chipset and nothing else.

When I boot it it boots up and stays on the loading wheel forever. When run in verbose it does not show any weird error or panic all it does is load OK until it gets to the part where it says something like :

"Loading NTFS 3.1" then it just stays there and does nothing else whatsoever.

Any ideas?

Do you have HT in the processor?

Here is the setup used and awaiting 10.5.8

Dell Dimension 3000 model purchased for business use
▪ Booted with iDeneb 1.4 to install OS X 10.5.7
-> ran Disk Utility selected drive hardware and partitioned drive with two partitions [top-Mac OS Extended (Journaled) bottom-fat32]
-> selected the following staples for RJ45
▪ Kernel: 9.4.0 StageXNU
▪ Network: Intel100ProVE
▪ Chipset Drivers: ICHx Fixed (can also use LegacyAppleIntelPIIATA)
▪ Audio Drivers: AC97 (Use Apple Midi setup to set input to 6ch and then speakers to 3 and 6)
▪ Fixes and Patches: AppleSMBIOS ToH (Fixes "About This Mac" crash), Seatbelt.Kext 10.5.5 (fixes errors mounting DMG images)

No QE/CI with on-board Intel EG2 82865G, but it works with default drivers. (1024x768 only with Millions)

This gets the big stuff working and you can software update most stuff except 10.5.8, and I also selected "Ignore Update" for the airport stuff. The details you don;t see here are the PS2 Keyboard and Mouse, CPUs=1, and disabling the Max CPUID in the Bios.

Then the 3rd Party software to make good on installing Leopard first: NTFS for Mac OS X v7, Pacifist, and MacDrive on the PC side.

Added a firewire card and used Disk Utility to make a disk image of working setup, this one was able to work well with Time Machine for a 27 minute restore when booting via DVD. There is more that one way to make it work, just keep notes and only change one thing at a time and make use of some of the backup options shown here via Terminal or otherwise.

However when I press the left and right speaker button to test output I get a very annoying "noise / cracking " sound.
I guess at least there is sound being outputted to the speakers just dosn't seem right. Any ideas? I've installed the VoodooHDA.kext thing (thats the only thing i've done in addition to standard IPC 10.5.6 install)
