    Default Dimension 2400 - IATKOS v.7

    Hey Guys,

Just wondering if anyone has been successful in installing OSX from the Iatkos.v7 distribution...or from any others for that matter.

    My configuration:
    Dell Dimension 2400
    P4 @ 2,66Ghz
    BIOS Revision A05
    Nvidia Geoforce FX5500
I also have a sata pci card installed.

I have tried Iatkos v.7 with multiple configurations and at best got locked on the grey apple logo screen. I was also able to determine that I was 'waiting for root device' on one install but most times it is a reboot cycle at Darwin loading (Before grey screen)

    Also, I have tried
    - Kalyway, reboot cycle prior to install screen
    - iDeneb, unable to load
    - boot123 and retail, retail never loaded (possible bad burn)

Not sure if there is more information you require. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi Crawl09 ,

I'm new to this but I think P4 processors are not supported buy Mac OS at all,
I've read allot about people trying it and some have succeeded but with slow performance.

Default iATKOS v7 on Dell Dimension 2400

    Hey Crawl,

Just wondering if you ever had any luck installing iATKOS v7 on that Dell Dimension 2400. I am trying the very same thing right now to no avail. I was able to get v2 running, but we all know that you can't upgrade to 10.5.8 with that distro. Anyway, PC either just keeps rebooting after v7 installation as if Chameleon didn't get installed even though I selected it during install, or I get a kernel panic. Dunno if I'm doing something (or not doing something) wrong/right other than choosing my install options, i.e. configuring Chameleon?, etc. I have tried several different kernel/boot pairings. Mac system profiler also says that the 2.2 Ghz Intel Celeron processor is a single core when it should be dual? Any info would be so greatly appreciated!

    System info
    Dell Dimension 2400
    -Intel Celeron 2.2 Ghz
    -1.5 MB RAM
    -150GB WD Hard Drive
-LITE-ON DVD multi recorder-seems to be noticed in iATKOS v2
-(older!) NVIDIA RIVA TNT 2 64 PCI video card-seems to work fine with v2
-onboard NIC-works ok, just slow as you said with Broadcom 440x driver with v2
    -onboard sound-works with v2
-USB Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer which works fine, even right click
-PS/2 keyboard for BIOS/boot, but I do actually have a USB Mac keyboard for when I'm actually in OSX which also works with v2
-generic 3-port firewire PCI card-dunno if it works with anything yet

And one more thing. When you burn the image of iatkos on dvd ,burn it at low speed i mean at 4x you will not have problems during install.
