    Default Dell Dimension 2400 install reboots

    I have a Dell Dimension 2400 with the following specs:
    BIOS A05
    Pentium 4 2.8GHz cpu
    1GB RAM
    80GB IDE HDD
    Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV video

    I am trying to install Kalyway 10.5.2.

    I know the dvd is ok as I have successfully installed on a DELL Inspiron 6400.

    My problem is that when I try to install the OS I cannot get the install screen as it will simply reboot. I have tried booting with:
    cpus=1
    -f, -x, -v, -legacy
    platform = X86PC
    platform = 86PC
    rd=disk0s1

    Some of these parameters take the process further but all end up with a reboot and I am back where I started. If there is an error message it is too quick for me to see it.

    The BIOS is very simple and there is little for me to change in that regard.

    Any help appreciated. Thanks

    I have run a cpu check utility and it tells me that Hyper Threading is not supported. Also that the cpu supports SSE2 but not SSE3 (don't know if that is relevant or not)

    OK. I have now tried iATKOS v5 and it seems to boot up ok and gets me to the install screen. Problem is the graphics are very bad and I can hardly read the display. How do I improve the installation graphics. I have integrated graphics as indicated in my first post

    Hi. Had a look at that link and it seems to deal with post-installation graphics issues. My problem is that I can't install. I get the apple logo - it's very clear. But the splash screen and the next couple of installation screens are really poor graphics and I can't read them.

    I have tried putting in this command at the boot prompt:
    "Graphics Mode" = "1280x1024x32@75"

    exactly as I have typed above, but still is the same poor graphics.

    with video issues you better try with lower res, like 800x600, you always can try with another distro like iPC or Leo4all v5
