Hi all !
It has now been the 10th time I'm attempting to have Leopard installed on my laptop.
I have a Dell Latitude D630. I have replaced the original Hard drive (work) to put mine Sata Toshiba 320Go, updated the bios to the latest one available on Dell's site A14 and put the SATA to AHCI as requested on some web site.
I have been able to partition my drive, select some of the options, but apparently these options are not the one I should select, because when the installation is done, the system reboot, I change the SATA operation in the bios to ATA and then the Mac OS Apple and wheel start, looks to be working, hard drive loading files and files and spinning wheel turn and turn. Suddenly all is frozen, no more running spinning wheel. I have tried to revert to AHCI but nothing better.
What did i do wrong ???
I run into the exact same issue
Has anyone been successful installing 10.5.6 on a Latitude D630?
This is driving me nuts. I have a D620 for work & was able to get
it working flawlessly. Any help/info is greatly appreciated
I would suggest to run in -v mode to see what the error is.
iPc 10.5.6 Final will work with D630
I got my D630 with iPc 10.5.6 Final version.
Bios Ver. A13
turn on AHCI
The tricky part is Customization. This is what I selected and it works.
Motherboard - Intel ICHx Support
Patches & Fixes - PS 2 Keyboard fix, DSDT fix and seatbelt 10.5.5
Ethernet Drivers - Apple BMC5751Ethernet
Wireless - Broadcom
Install and when it comes up remember to jump for joy . Put in your normal registration.
In order for you to get the sound and graphic to work. You have to do few more steps below
1. google & download this driver for graphic card "NVInstaller v.52.pkg" once install reboot and startup with option "-f -v".
2. google & download this driver "Dell_Latitude D630-D830 OS X drivers.zip" extract sound_file.zip for your sound. once you extract the sound_file, there is another zip file called AppleHDAPatcherv1.20. You need to unzip that file too.
a. drag the file code_dump1.txt into the file AppleHDAPatherv1.20(icon looks like a frog with it's tongue out).
b. put your password and let it do it thing and REMEMBER to reboot after this.
c. when it comes back login and Open kexthelper from /Applications
d. drag AppleHDA.kext from sound_file into whitespace, put your password and click easyinstall and let if finish. REBOOT again
That's all you have to do to have a 99.9% perfect system. The only thing that I can not get the system to shutdown/restart. I think this is due to the graphic card driver.
I am going to try to do your install method when I get home. I do know I am on a different bios than you, I updated to version A15. I hope that has nothing to do w/ it.
Ok I tried it w/ no success. I tried to load w/ -v to see & freezes on:
MAC Framework successfully initialized
using 16384 buffer headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers
IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vectors 0:23
Ok when I set "Load defaults" in BIOS it lets me load the disk.
I get the same result. Looks like the install was fine, reboots see the apple logo w/ spinning wheel -> then goes to light blue screen then black & freezes.
I am going to revert my BIOS back to A13 & see if that is the issue.
Ok I reverted to BIOS A13 & completed the install. Same issue w/ black screen. This time I docked my laptop & viewed the screen on my external monitor & I saw something interesting. It appears that it was playing that welcome video intro w/ all the lauguages. Then stopped on the last screen where it waits to be configured. Could this be just the video driver/kext is not correct? I left it blank & was going to install the NVInstaller v.52.pkg upon start up. Any ideas? Oh here is what I see after install reboot on my external monitor. http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/5631/imag0149.jpg
Ok I'm totally stuck...Why would it view fine while installing the OS later to be all distorted after reboot?
UPDATE!! Got it going using the tutorial from roneil4 that was based off of Kalyway & iATKOS. It was a matter of the going into Terminal after install before it reboots & following the kext removal. Now I'm following his tutorial to a T except for the OS update part (since I have installed 10.5.6) & so far so good. I feel dumb for not knowing it would also work w/ iPC 10.5.6. I will let ya'll know if I run into any snags if any
Ok...Having problems getting the CI/QE working...I can't seem to get the full resolution.
