I am a newbie trying to get to the world of mac. At the time i cant afford to buy a new mac, so my only hope is to install leopard on my compaq c792ev. Has anyone tried to hackintosh this laptop?

Any suggestions on what distribution i should try for better odds of successful installation?

There is nothing about it in the hcl. Detailed specs are:

Cpu intel t2410 2.0ghz
Intel chipset ich8
3gb ddr2 ram
Atheros wifi
Conexant audio
Mobile intel express graphics 960/965 series
Realtek 8139 ethernet
Alps touchpad
250gb sata hdd

looks great, just download a distro and try, remember to install PS/2 FIX OR PS2NUB or you wont have keyboard or mouse support after installation Good Luck

Nah you have to customize your installation, cuz you wont have support for your keyboard or mouse, you'll see a customize button before install

I am typing this post in my Compaq C792EV hackintosh!!!

I've installed ideneb v1.3 (10.5.5).

Installation was easy, fast and with no problems.

I had created a new partition, formated as extened journaled and done the installation there. Dual boot works out of the box!

I've clicked customized and I've done a few selections.

I had no errors during installation.

So far the only things that do not work right out of the box are:

- Wifi (Atheros AR5007)
- Sound (Conexant HD Smartaudio 221)
- Webcam (even-though it seems to respond, the led of the camera is on when I enter iChat, I dont get any image and I get an error that camera is already in use)

I will start exploring macosx and try to solve the problems mentioned above.

I will let the community know of the final results.

I have audio!

I've installed AzaliaAudio.pkg and audio for Conexant HD SmartAudio 221 works.

I only have sound on the built in speakers on my laptop. Hooking up headphones on the jack has no effect.

Good to hear that romfeo, yeah sometimes some audiocard are no fully supported, and thx for the info, this will help other users
