Default Can't mount or format partition

    Hi everybody.

I'm trying to install OSX on my IDE HDD with WinXP and kubuntu already installed on it.
I created empty (unformatted) partition on it, but I can't mount it with Disk Utility and Erase just do nothing to it. Actually, I can't mount any partition not from IDE drive nor from SATA drives (FSs are NTFS, ext3 and linux swap) with "unknown filesystem" error.
Of course, nothing appears when I'm being asked to choose install destination.
    I'm using Leo4all v4.1 distro.
Any ideas if I should try other distro, do something with my MB settings or anything else? And is there any win utility, which can format partition to MacOS extended FS?

    PC specs are:
    Processor: AMD 64 x2 3600+
    Motherboard: ASUS M2N-E
    Memory: 2x1 GB Corsair
    Video: ATI Radeon x1600 Pro

English is not my native language, so sorry if I messed up somewhere.

Did you activate your partition? format it as NTFS or FAT32, then use disk utility to format as extended journaled.

I tried both Leo4all and Kalyway distros now.
Disk Utility formats my HDD volumes to FAT w/o any problem, but when it comes to MacOS FS it just screws partition up.
NTFS partition says "unrecognized format" after that, and FAT ones goes with "Invalid BS_jmpBoot in boot block 00000000" (everything is OK if I format it to FAT again after that).

But somehow, I managed to format my USB flash drive to mac FS and started install on it, but it ended with unrecognized error.

Should I make OSX partition first on disc or create it on SATA HDD instead?
And yes, I set the partition to Active.

If you have a Sata HDD, it wont be a problem, try with that and report back

Default I have the same trouble

When the installation menu appears i select the disk utility and try to format a partition previously formatted into FAT 32 as Primary Partition.

I have a dual boot with the Acronis Select OS and I already had my Leopard and Windows XP running, but I uninstalled it.

The other day, suddenly, when i was in the disk utility of the installation and selected the erase option of this volume the DVD didnīt do anything but deleting the volume label and setting it as MS-DOS. After that I started XP and with the Acronis Director I noticed that an error had been detected on this volume, the same that mmrnmhrm points.

So I don't think it is because of this volume is not set as active.

I have tried with iAtkos v5i and Kalyway 10.5.2 distros.

    Any other solution??
