EDIT:
If that doesn't work i have one last idea. Well, the short story: it didn't work.
The long story ...
I booted with an install DVD, and the boot loader seemed to find my SATA OSX partition (hd1p3) and let me select that to boot. Of course, it then proceeded to boot to the installation DVD instead of the already-installed partition. Why? I have no idea. I also have no idea why, once I canceled the installation and tried to reboot, none of my other partitions were bootable either:
Code:
boot0: MBR
boot0: error
boot0: error
It then took me 4 hours, 15 reboots with the Vista DVD, 8 automatic boot recovery attempts, 2 full chkdsk runs (with /f /r), about 10 different BCD editing procedures, etc., to get anywhere with getting the existing partitions to boot. It turns out that, for whatever reason, even though I was trying to reinstate the Vista boot loader, and even though Vista is installed on hd1p2, I had to use diskpart to activate the XP partition (same hd, p1), disk, and volume. Once I did this and rebooted, my old, trusty Vista loader was back, and I could once again boot to my Windows partitions.
Well, that was fun.
What was your other idea?

Hi,
THIS:
sudo -s
cd /usr/standalone/i386
dd if=boot1h of=/dev/rdisk0s2
cp boot /
From http://pcwizcomputer.com/index.php?o...2&catid=20#615
solved my boot1 error.
While using the dvd to boot into OSX the dd command didnt worked because the partition was already mounted. So i copied the boot1h to my usb-stick and ran the command again under Linux. Now tripple boot using Grub in the MBR works for Linux, OSX and Windows. Didn't had to copy boot to / ,since it was already there.
This should work for the Vista/XP bootloader as well. If you don't have a linux Installation, the procedure can be done by a Linux Live-CD like Ubuntu. Probably even under Windows, using a dd port.
Greetings,
Freezer

You know how to fix your 8 hour problem now right, as that could happen again

1) Download the boot123 disk and try using that instead of a install Disk.
2) Download the beta version of EasyBCD 2.0
here and follow the instructions found here in this
thread (1st and last post look like they could help)
Good Luck

Yup: make the XP disk, partition, and volume all active with Vista's DISKPART. Why? Don't know. But it works.
1) Download the boot123 disk and try using that instead of a install Disk.
The readme for boot-123 (or is it boot-132?) says it doesn't work for AMD systems.
No good for me.
2) Download the beta version of EasyBCD 2.0
here and follow the instructions found here in this

Now, why on earth hasn't anyone mentioned this before?
The 2.0 beta (and its new EFI option) worked like a charm. Please emphasize this in your FAQ!
I was able to get my Yukon ethernet working with an AppleYukon.kext, and my ALC888 sound working with an ALC888.pkg package. Still working on getting my nVidia GeForce GT7600 256mb card to display better than 1024x768 (NVinject isn't working), and I would like to upgrade from LawlessPC 10.5.4 to something more modern. And I'd also like to solve the 7-minute delay during boot, and hang on restart. But at least I can boot now! Thanks.

Reason for this error explained
Just as a clarification: This error occurs if the file "boot" in the root of the active partition (from where "boot1h" gets loaded) can not be found.
