Asus G50vt-X1 quandary
Hello. I too have a G50vt-x1 laptop.
InsanelyMac Forum > ASUS G50vt-x1
I used the iPC 10.5.6 FINAL Live DVD for installation.
I've done everything in that article, but preferred to make a new post given the length of that one.
The sound drivers given in that link install and the volume icon appears, but no sound is heard despite ramping the volume to maximum.
I tried various video drivers; even the latest macbook pro ones within the ipc distro. I am stuck at 1024x768 display and there is frequent display corruption when moving windows or scrolling in web browsers.
I cannot use OSX86 Tools to update the screen res or anything else; when clicking on the confirm button when changing the EFI command for the CPUS=1 fix and video size, I keep getting an error (paraphrased): error 127 reading "sh:/Applications osx86 is not an application". I created a folder and re-ran; got an error 126 saying "osx86" is a folder. Copying OSX86 Tools to /applications and renaming it "osx86" gave error 127 again.
I don't need wifi support. Wired support works great.
So in short, my main issue is video but if there's a way to get osx86 tools to properly work; have there been any updates since?
Thx!
booting with "CPUS=1 -x -v -f" allows the display to scroll normally. Rebooting to normal mode ("CPUS=1 -v") has the problem returning.
And is there a way to get both cores to be seen again?

Reason: small update

That rev 209 BIOS update resolved the CPUS=1 issue (yippie!) and am still working on the video and sound problems.
I was able to get OSX86 to work - downloaded from the site and launched from within the zip file. Howwever, the 1366x768 setting was not implemented despite being retained in configuration.
With luck there will be a video fix one day; safe mode is silly.
