Default Another boot problem (iATKOS v7)

    Hello there,

I just installed iATKOS v7 on my Dell laptop (Windows 7, Intel cpu, ATI gpu). While Mac was installing on my pc I went afk and when I returned I saw the pc rebooting and Chameleon opening afterwards. I guess it's all fine until here (?). After that, I realized the graphics were facked up, I managed to see the colors of the mac mouse (the colors) about 12 times in the screen (I can't explain it but it's definitely a glitch). After waiting a bit, a music played up, I guess it's from the install or something.

I have also chosen the ATI drivers from the install. I think it's important to say that I have tried to install iDeneb 1.6 but I failed... (it gave me a blue screen one time on the boot).

Ok guys that's my stupid problem, thanks for your help in advance!

P.S. I tried to boot in verbose mode and i got again a graphical bug.

Have you tried to install without any video driver?
You may have to kill all those kexts before getting into desktop.

Hey retvn, thanks for your answer! It's so good when you get help in these complex installations!

Anyway, no I haven't but when I will go home I will try it! But can you tell me what are these "kexts"?

It looks like your video card would turn off by some video kexts in system, as in many cases with some particular ATI and NV cards. One way to go through is to install without any video kext and hope that the default apple ATI kexts left in system won't interfere.

For some situations, those still do and you have to delete them just to get into OSX, then install your correct video kext afterward.

Those default kexts installed by OSX are quite a few (beside the one that you select, which by not selecting it during installation would make to OSX desktop hopefully). They start with ATIxxxx. If you could get into /S/L/E you'll see them.

This video issue is the most likely of your problem. There could be other causes as well but let hope that you're not running into those.

    Default Problem After Install

    Hi,

Im kind of a noob here so take it easy....

I have tryed installing Hackintosh on my dekstop several times using iDeneb, iatkos, and chamelion.

Iatkos installed but after the boot selection screen it wouldent boot MAC or windows (i know how to fix windows, mac is my main concern now) and iDeneb installed but just restarts when it trys to boot. I switched from PS2 keyboard and mouse to usb but im still having issues and its really frustrating.

If anyone has had the same problems just let me know what to do to fix them....

I am a computer repair man so i know alot about computers but this has truly stumped me and Im not sure what im doing wrong.

    P4 3.06 GHZ
    786 RAM
    40 GB IDE 1
    80 GB IDE 2
    DVD RAM
(Basically and IBM Netvista 8305 just upgraded)
This is my second computer and is fairly old so im open to any way of fixing, no matter how risky.

    Thanks

Hey Bman, maybe you should delete your post and make a new topic instead?

You could try to boot in single mode and use Terminal to kill them

    Boot with -x -v -s

it should come to a # root prompt, then run the code one by one, hit enter after each line and wait for the prompt, post any return error.

    mount -uw /

    mkdir /kext_backup

    mv /System/Library/Extensions/ATI* /kext_backup

    rm -rf /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches

    reboot

    Then reboot with -x -v -f

    Let me know.

Unfortunately after booting with -x -v -s, I saw those thousands lines but then it wouldn't let me write anything else in console

    How about just -s
It should eventually come to the # root prompt.
    (Or -x -s )
