After Install: Circle with Line Through It ?
After install, it reboots and during the white-Apple boot screen I see a circle with a line through it at the top of the Apple. Please help. Thank you. I heard this is possibly due to having a nVidia chipset (which I have).
Thanks

This information does not help.
List your hardware, mobo & video brand/model number.
What distro did you use.

Sorry- I'm a complete noob at this (but not at computers).
Sony Vaio (late 05): Pentium M 1.86 ghz, 1gb ram ddr2, nVidia GeForce 6400. After running -v, I get the Firewire Error and then "still waiting on root device." I formatted in Disk Util before install for Mac Journal (extended). I'm using iDeneb. (let me know if there is a better distro I should use)
Thanks

I tried a similar laptop over the weekend.
I used ideneb 1.4 (10.5.6)
I got through the installation part but system hung at waiting for root device.
Probably due to the fact that an incorrect option (for the chipset) was picked during the custom install.
Another distro you can try is IPC (10.5.6) or iAtkos.
You need to play around with the install ... That's what it's all about wtih hackint0sh.

Under "chipset" I don't think I selected any. And for the other categories (sound, etc.), I chose a few because I wasn't 100% sure. Should I have only picked one? Or is it ok to pick a few under "sound" , etc...? I didn't choose anything under "fixes" or "chipsets" because I don't know which one to pick. Could that be causing the probleM?

you need to google for the complete hardware specs for your laptop.
Choose one only. For the friend's laptop that i tried, the sound is an Analog Device, the ethernet is intel pro v100. Your system may be different.
For video, i chose nvidia GO inject.
For kernel, i chose the voodoo (use that kernel for SSE3 emulation)
What's causing the problem? - Incorrect installation choices or the hardware is not supported.
It's trial and error. There isn't a recipe that will work for all.

If you were using a similar laptop, maybe your chipset choice will work on mine... Do you remember what you used?

see above.
Again, i got the waiting for root device as well.
I need to go back and play with that laptop again when I have time.
