when i go to pick mine up, or just to look at one ill take along a DVD and try it out on one of the stores machines
and if it works then im in the clear otherwise i might need to get an external CD/DVD/Blu-ray reader
might just get that anyway

As far as I'm aware the Sony External BluRay drive works with OS/X, however, if you are looking to play retail movies using it you may encounter a problem. To my knowledge Mac OS is incapable of playing RETAIL BR movies due to a DRM issue, unencrypted personal movies (such as those from HD camcorders) recorded to BR should work fine however.

where do u suggest i put the avi files on the mac
FYI it was only one disk that was not reading on the macbook

i think where to put your video files is a personal choice. I created a folder named Videos under my user directory

so there was a power surge two days ago an my lap top (windows) charger has burnt out......am using my friends mac now and getting my mac book pro + a 4 GB of ram upgrade tomorrow or on saturday
now can some one please tell me what torrent client im supposed to use
i was using utorrent on windows but thats not there for mac?
also why do my avi n mpg on quicktime or vlc look so look so bad and pixilated????
also how do i convert mpg or avi to mp4 on a mac?????

i push the power button on a windows and it takes me 1 minutes just to boot up

torrent clients: transmission, tomato torrent, vezu torrent (formerly known as azureus)
video converter: xilisoft video converter for mac, isquint or visualhub
maybe u have an issue with perian... try to install vlc player and check if u have the same problem..... also your friend's mac may have GMA950 graphics ... that could be a reason but idk...dont take my word on this
if u need any help... just ask.

I've had my MBP for one year now and it has crashed twice, both times the crash report referenced Norton Antivirus. Needless to say I removed it and hopefully won't be seeing that curtain come down again. It is just un-natural to see a Mac crash.
