The mac book pro is really nice machine. For me, been a long time user of windows. I bought a Mac Book ($1000 or so and put in 2 GB of memroy), I love it !!! - For what I do, the mac book is good enough but the mac book pro is King !!.

You can use bootcamp or parallels to install windows on it if you need to run something specific...

sounds good, so if you need programs like msn or say something that isent available for mac you can use that like on unix has that program to run .exe files win something?

for me i already have a fairly new lap top so the mac would be more for my iphone keeping copy of all my videos mp3s and using itunes and everything to do with iphone on it .... 1000 dollars? 2GB ram cant be bad

250 GB harddisk, 2 Gb ram (will try to get 4), Nvidia 8800 512 MB
Am gonna have to play DIABLO 3, Cant wait for december

so this boot camp, do i have to log off mac os x to get onto windows or can i open it up on an extra "winodw" on os x

aslo what is CTRL+ALT+DEL for mac
i know alt+F4 is option+Q

does copy/paste/cut have the same short cut CTRL + C/V/X???

What about all my AVI and DIVX files and all my south park, simpsons, familly guy, american dad, scrubs etc etc etc which are not in mp4 format - does quick time play that or does mac have VLC or real media?

I dont know about boot camp as i have never used it..... parallels desktop (another software for the same thing) lets u run windows in another window inside ur mac os x session

copy / cut / paste in mac = option+c / option+x / option+v

just install perian plugin and u can watch them with quicktime

i was looking at some on the apple website it says about a mac pro that looks good. would be nice to be able to use pwnage and use the mac as a backup and for nothing btu the iphone

a mac pro just for pwnage and iphone backup huh...... Dont you think thats just a little too much?? get an iMac instead if u want a desktop ..... even a mac mini ...if thats the only things u want to do..... if u want a notebook and you are confortable with a small screen get a macbook ... otherwise get the mac book pro.... do not get the macbook air as it is an ultra portable computer and u will be very dissappointed if u want to do more than office work on it....

i have no idea about macs ive never really used them only once in a net cafe years ago i used it for like 5 seconds and hated it i dident know how to use it.. i imagine macs have changed a lot since then..

but yes all i want is to use it as a backup for iphone just have all my itunes stuff mp3s movies apps from app store stored there, maybe once every so offen a browse on the web but not offen because i already have a vista lap top so i would really use this more. like now pwnage tool is out for 2.0.2 and not winpwn 2.5 so thats also another plus for having it and i think general use of iphone on a mac will be better not just for quicker access to unlocks....

The UI differences between the two os's are overrated, you'll have no problems.

I would recommend a Macbook unless you're really doing professional level 3D rendering or HD video editing as it is sufficiently powerful for nearly any task despite its reputation as a low end computer.

I've had my macbook for over two years, and I'm actually still satisfied with it's performance, which is an all time record for any computer i've ever owned .

One thing, don't select any build-to-order ram or hard drive upgrades as they are ridiculously overpriced and more acceptable substitutes can be found on newegg.

what about playing diablo 3, that is when it comes out in december

Gaming is something I think the Mac is lacking support. Hopefully that will change soon. Regarding Diablo 3, I think you should check it out carefully to see if it will work they way you wanted.

Bootcamp is something you can install (comes with your OSX DVD). It allows you to boot straight into windows. Drivers support is adequate

Parallels is something you install on top of OSX and you run Windows on top of it. (like vmware).

Backup copy of Leopard? Retail discs do NOT work on Leopard delivered new macbooks, you need to use the supplied Leo DVD. It's a thing with the EFI. You can modify a retail disc to work but its useless spent time.
