iPhone 2g screen replacement question

Hey All,

I saw on ebay that you can by a 2g digitizer/glass screen unit separate from the lcd screen.... and buying both of these is cheaper than buying one whole unit that is already "fused" together. My question is, has anyone ever replaced their 2g screen this way? Does it work? Or do I need to buy the one that is already put together?

Please help!

I'm no expert but I believe that it is much more difficult to disassemble and replace just one part. There is more risk of damaging things or getting foreign material (dust, fingerprints) sandwiched between the display and glass. That is why the fused option is available.
