whats up every one glad i found this site alot of good info but i got a doozy of a problem
well i recently got ahold of an iphone 2g the silver one
well thing is i bought this phone from ebay and its going haywire
okay
problem:
iphone will not charge only when it wants to usb and wall
iphone endless reboot
itunes will not detect iphone normally or restore mode
and finally if it does boot up it goes to a :iphone is disabled screen
:cannot kick it into dfu mode

things i dont know:
pretty much everything because it was from ebay and seller wont respond to any emails

things ive tried:
-ive tried to boot it into restore mode i can get it to boot into restore but itunes doesnt detect it.....
-ive tried kicking into dfu mode it doesnt not work just boots up normal
-no pop ups of any kind pops up no iphone camera dialog etc
-ive tried itunes 7.5 nothing
-newest itunes believe it9 nothing
-when i get into the iphone is disabled when i hit random numbers in the emergency call screen it takes me to the home screen and freezes then kicks me out back to the iphone is disabled screen after a few seconds
-iphone is disabled does not ask me for a passcode or anything

things i havent tried:
connecting the iphone thru the dock then usb
any other software or anything

other info:
im running a acer aspire one netbook with windows xp sp3
-usb 2.0 port
-currently have itunes 9.x.x
-all the drivers everything works fine plug in ipod touch syncs fine just not iphone
i do not have access to a mac machine
i called and went to the apple store genius said it was a software issue
im not a computer noob im not afraid to get down and dirty on the computer i know a thing or two

any advice or is this a paper weight
any other info can provided anything will be checking it soon
will try all suggestions and will report if any luck

I have the same problem!! It was my brother's but, he died last month, and my sister in law wants the phone for one of their kids.

Please help, the phone can't be put in DFU it just shutdown and does not turn on again until the battery drains. I just remove it and then turn it on

And iTunes does not recognizes it.

How can I put it on DFU?? Or restore it??

It sounds like a hardware problem. First diagnose this properly by trying a different USB cable and also testing with another computer.
The board that holds the dock connector can be damaged and produce symptoms like this. If the device is under warranty - get the whole iPhone replaced. Otherwise 3rd party repair shops can replace the board - takes very little time and is not very expensive.
