should have never disconnected your phone during the process. What does itunes say about the phone when you connect it to you computer? Also no a internet connection will not screw it up.

the Internet connection will be need as I am going to have you restore the phone. You need the Internet so that you can download the restore ipsw from apples servers. Also what I meant earlier is what does iTunes say about the phone if you connected it to your computer at this point in time. After re reading your post I suggest you put the iPhone in dfu mode ( YouTube a video if you need a visual) while it's connected to the computer and restore then re due the quick pwn process as the directions say

ok m8, listen... i ll tell it in newbie's way (soz for my crappy english)
1) Connect your iphone via USB cable
2) open iTunes
3) Go to iPhone Tab (on iTunes)
4) Hold Shift key + Restore button (it's a button in the iPhone Summary Tab)
5) Choose your ipsw file (for example if you have 2.2 firmware choose the 2.2 firmware file, you can download it from here http://www.iphonehellas.gr/iphone-firmware-ipsw-files/
6) Let it restore, and when it is done it will say SIM locked...
7) Now it's quickpawn's time...
