Question Win Key > CMD Key

Hello! I am trying to get my Windows key to work as the command key. so I can use all the neat shortcuts, I had my CMD set as CNTRL but it gets in the way sometimes, what should I do?
my windows key right now types weird characters if i combine it with other letters or numbers:
    ߃˙˙˙∑˙∫∫∫∂˙˚∆˙∑˙∑ππ∞

I'm sure you already know, but in system preferences >> Keyboard and Mouse there is an option to change the modifyer keys. There you can set what the command/super key does.
