Default [USB][Solved] Mouse and Keyboard work, but not drive

I have and old HP desktop with a 2.6GHz P4, 1.3GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce 6200 graphics card running Mac OS X 10.4.8. When I try to insert my USB flash drive, nothing happens, so I remove said drive. When I remove the drive, the OS slows down and the graphics get choppy. I have to reboot the machine for to correct the graphics problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You've got a problem with the USB mass storage kernel extension.
Search the forum with the embedded Google search for it.

    Default Searching...

I searched the site for "USB mass storage kernel extension" and the only result was your post about searching for afore said kernel extension. Is there any place I can find this extension or maybe even how to make the kernel extension? Any and all help would be appreciated.:hack:

    Default EHCI error

I accidentally nuked my install. When I booted from DVD, it gave me a couple of error messages.
    1) USBF: 36.344 ECHI controller unable to take control from BIOS
    2) USBF: 36.345 AppleUSBECHI[0x2bb5800]: unable to obtain ownership: 0xe00002be
    3) USBF: 36.347 AppleUSBEHCI[0x2bb5800]: :UIMInitialize - Error occourred (0xe00002be
    4) 36.364 Apple USBECHI: unable to initialize UIM

I'm thinking that this is why I can't use my USB ports. Am I right?

Yup, looks like your USB can't be correctly accessed.

Check in your computer's BIOS if you have special settings for the USB that might interfere and cause problems.

    Default Legacy Support

I went into my BIOS and turned off legacy support. Now, my USB drive works perfectly. Thanks for the help.:finder:
