    Default SL Server with i5-2500/i7-2600

    Hi,

I'm looking for building a Server:

    -Running Snow Leopard
-Having about 8-16 Gb of RAM
-One of the later most cost-efficient processors (The i5-2500 seems to be the most price efficient in terms of computing power per dollar but I’d rather use the i7-2600 since it offers hyper threading, and my server is more likely to be saturated by a very very large number of repetitive tasks that aren’t individually processor-intensive, than it is by few very processor intensive tasks, so I think that my cores would be unnecessarily saturated without hyper threading and I would get more out of an i7 CPU than 1.4 times what I would get from the i5 (40% being the price difference), but correct me if I’m wrong)
-Using an SSD drive for OS, most server data that doesn’t take much space but requires to be accessed rapidly (calendars, mail, contacts, a dozen of webpages, and sever applications), and a RAID 6 separate server being used for Time Machine backup and file sharing over the internet.

    I’m looking for two things:

    (1) Cost efficiency: My goal is to build the most cost-efficient (computing power per $) stable mac os x server. I don’t need to have the most powerful one, I can balance the load on several smaller servers if that ends up being more cost-efficient
    (2) Full reliability: Despite the server being a hackintosh, once it has been set up I would like it to run exactly as a real Apple server (Mac Pro/Xserve). This prevails over cost efficiency, so I’m looking for the most cost-efficient, perfectly reliable hakintosh server. I’m not doing this just for the fun of having a hackintosh server, but only as a means to get a SL server for 1/4th of the cost of an equivalent Apple server, because I am far from being able to afford a server from Apple that would fit my needs.

Do you think what I’m looking for would be achievable?
