Resolution stays at 1024x768 no matter what...
Hello, thanks to some great tutorials and user tools, I've been able to install OSX Snow Leopard on my PC.
The only problem I am having, is that I cannot get the system to recognize my ATI HD 4650 (1GB) Graphics Card, or at least I can't get any better screen resolution than 1024x768
I've installed a "Kext" tool that allows me to drop kext files onto it and have them written to the system. I've done this with some supposed ATI Kext files, and in my System Preferences, it now show a "version" of my Graphics card, however not the exact same one.
None the less, the only "Display" resolution option I see in System Preferences is 1024x768 - and my card is capable of much higher resolution.
I was also able to edit my boot.plist to include a string showing 1600x1250, but I can still only get 1024x768.
Does anyone here have any suggestions on how I might be able to get this to work effectively?
I've read through many, many posts and threads on the internet about this issue and have tried almost everything that has been suggested elsewhere.
I am sorry if I left out any critical information, as I am a NOOB x 1,000,000.
Maybe you have to flash your GPU with a rom?
You can download known working roms, save your current GPU's rom then flash your GPU with the new rom. This could fix the problem your having.
Then again im no expert but i know its something you could try.
Can you tell me what that is, where to download that sort of utility to flash the graphics card, etc?
Do the same thing i done to find out that information below, google search.
