(Really) Bad performance
My pc is a Athlon x2 4200+, Asus M2n-e, nv geforce 7600gt... and an offboard network card =)
Well... The speed of my system is terrible... I don't install the sound and the NATIT because it makes the pc almost unusable (lags all the system)...
With a plain JaS 10.4.8 install (only the base system and the AMD fix [no titan, no azalia]) I can barelly use use it... but my CPU load is always above 50% on the activity monitor (% System)... And I'm not doing any activity (!)
I've tried lots of speed boost tips... and nothing...
Now I'm downloading a new DVD (Tubgirl 10.4.10 test 1)... hoping itll worth (7~10 kb/s =/)
Any of you guys have a solution for my problem??
Theres some chance that the new (tubgirl 10.4.10) install will perform better?
Hmm, that sound familiar. I have athlon xp in my lapintosh. At first, I abandoned the thought of running osx on it because it was unusably slow. But, a few months later, I reinstalled osx because some new drivers were available. After I installed the wireless/power management/video (callista through Katana) the thing picked up speed and is now downright perky. I think it is quite a bit faster than when it ran XP pro.
My advice is to follow through and install the appropriate drivers for ALL you components (or at least all the ones you have drives for). You may get lucky and the speed will improve!
Maybe try to reinstall the OS? Thats really bad if the perfomance is too slow
