What should I do with $300 to $350?

I don't know if this is possible, but I'd like to try building a PC. My requirements are that it be somewhere within reach of my budget, which is $350, that it have the potential to be easily turned into a Hackintosh, and that it would allow me to play games which I can't currently play on my GMA950 iMac.

I know that may be a tall order, so I'm thinking I might need to be flexible and get it up and running first and then invest in a discreet graphics card later.

I did check the existing thread on recommended setups for beginners, but that thread began over a year ago, and some of the recommended mobos in the original post seem to be no-longer available.

Could somebody be kind enough to cook up a list of current hardware that I could order from NewEgg which would fit the bill?

A little help, please?

Somebody I know on another message board suggested the following setup when I mentioned that I wanted to build a cheap PC with some gaming potential:

CPU: AMD Athalon II X4 620
GPU: AMD 5770 1GB
MOBO: ECS something or other
PSU: Thermaltake 500W
RAM: 2GB Crucial DDR3 1333
HD: 320GB WD
CASE: some cheap ol' thing

That was before he realized I also wanted to have the option of turning it into a Hackintosh. Am I correct in assuming this setup won't work 'cause it ain't Intel? Or that it would be more difficult than if I went with Intel stuff?

Also, the graphics card he suggested is not currently available from NewEgg.

Would anybody care to suggest a similar setup that I could order from NewEgg or one of their competitors that would use Intel architecture and come in for about the same prices? As I said, I did check the huge thread on recommended setups for beginners, but I found it somewhat bewildering.

As previously stated, I did that, and found it bewildering. I'm hoping somebody might be able to help me narrow down my choices a little bit.
