Hey guys, this is probably irrelevant, and might be in the wrong forum but this is my first time writing outside the iPhone forum..
Does anyone know anything about RFID technology? Basically im trying to clone some RFID tags and wanna know more about how they work...
Are RFID readers somehow linked back to a server and the ID is approved? Or is there something written on the tag itself thats just read by the terminals..?
Any info would be greatly appreciated!!
Well it depends on the RFID type, you get a lot of different ones. One of the most popular ones which is rewritable is the MiFare tag, this is used in the London Underground Oyster cards. I use EM4102 with a cheap USB reader to login, they aren't rewritable but they all have unique codes and the reader acts like a USB HID keyboard. Rewriters cost a fortune and are likely too expensive for the hobbyist. Try these places for more info:
AFAIK most tags don't report to any servers or such however some are encrypted.
