Acer 5739G & iATKOS v.7-Video freezing question
Hi guys/gals I'm new on this forum and also a noob in hacked Mac OSX. However I installed successfully a dual boot between Win 7 64bit & iATKOS v7 onto my Acer 5739G. Now I have a few questions and I hope I can find the answer here. Any help will be appreciated. Note: Sorry for the long post but I think its better to give all the background information so you people can understand what is the problem. Thank you
Acer Aspire 5739G:
Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 (2GB, 1066 FSB, 3mb Cache)
4 GB DDR3 1066 Mhz Ram
Nvidia GeForce GT 130M (this is the hardware that is causing problems)
I have 3 partitions onto the hard-drive: 50 GB For Win 7 (+100MB system reserved), 50GB for Mac OSX and the rest of the space for games, tools, videos etc.
iATKOS Setup Configuration I have choosed:
iATKOS essential system;
Bootloader = Chameleon 2;
x86 Patches = Extra, DSDT, Decripter - AppleDecrypt, Apple SMBIOS by Netkas, ACPI - x86 ACPI & Disabler;
System = Sata (ACHI), Intel Speedstep (both), Apple PS2, Laptop Battery & NTFS - 3G.
Video = GT 200 EVGA & NVinject.
The dual boot works just fine, both Win7 and Mac OSX works. But there is a problem with this Nvidia GeForce GT 130M graphics card.
For example if I watch youtube the laptop will freeze within 5-10 minutes of use. This happens in both operating systems but very very often in Mac OSX. This makes it impossible for me to work with GarageBand, and GarageBand is the reason i have installed Mac OSX onto this laptop.
I did a bit of research and the problem starts from Nvidia drivers and Nvidia Powermizer Technology. Whenever this Powermizer starts to kick in the laptop freezes. This not only happens with normal PC use but in some games aswell - I think it depends of the 3D platform, like OpenGL or Direct3D.
Now, there is a Fix for Windows that prevents this crashes from happening:
This is the manual way, there is also a program that does this automatically - program name is Powermizer Switch:
1.Open up Regedit and go to \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contr ol\Video\********\0000\
The *'s will be random numbers. There will be a few of them, pick the one with the most stuff in it.
2.Create the 4 Powermizer keys (these will all be DWORD):
3.Change the values (double click on them) to:
PerfLevelSrc 3322 (I changed to 2222 to completely disable PowerMizer)
4.Reboot and Powermizer will be disabled!
Now, My Questions are:
1.Is there any way I can modify the same registry on MAC OSX or install a different driver/kext or any other tweaks to fix this hang up problem ?
2.If I disable all this Mac OSX smooth/fade in effect (don't know if it's possible?) may fix the problem?
Thank you very much and sorry again for the massive post.
