Powerbook is dead, time to build my own mac
My powerbook has died And I am going to build my own mac now, here is what Im looking to buy, I am computer savvy just want to make sure the parts are good:
Intel DG45ID Motherboard w/ E8400 processor
EVGA GeForce 9400 GT Video Card
Hitachi 1tb HD
4gb of Corsair Memory pc6400 Ddr2
Does everything sound like it should work, buying all this stuff and being stuck with vista would suck a large one.
Looks great, it should be stable
HP Pavilion Elite m9250f
Snow Leopard 10.6.6, Asus IPIBL-LB MOD BIOS, Intel Quad Core Q6600, 4GB RAM (800mhz), 2x500GB, nVidia 8600GT (Works), ALC888S (Works), Wireless RT73 (Works), LAN (Works) - How to Install

With the lack of any MacMini update today I'm thinking about doing the same.
Basically I'm going to use it as Time Capsule-Media Server.
Besides building a better machine for the money I need a new project. :-)
Pretty much my take on it too. I bought a mini for the inlaws to use as a skype client (new grandkid). To support it I'd like to have a similar setup here. Had they announced an improved mini I would have gone for it. Instead I'll just use a hackintosh setup instead. The cheapie Atom-based mobos are pretty compelling as a solution for my reasonably simple needs.
