Default Please Take a Look at my Rig

Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DS4P ATX Intel Motherboard
    CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor
Cooling: Scythe MUGEN-2 SCMG-2000 120mm Sleeve CPU Cooler
    Memory: Kingston 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
    Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory
Video: EVGA GeForce 9800 GT 512-P3-N973-TR Video Card
PCI Firewire: SIIG FireWire 800+ Hi-Speed USB Combo Card Model NN- 8US212-S2
Case:Antec Nine Hundred + EA650 Black Computer Case With Side Panel Window

I'm new to the OSX86 venture and know little about computers. I went onto Newegg and pieced together the above rig and would greatly appreciate if someone could take a look at it and tell me if I might run into problems. There isn't a lot of info on this particular mobo, and I couldn't find any guides online.

I'm a long-time Apple user, have rolled my own JBOD and eSata RAID. However, I have no programming knowledge whatsoever, and don't know a thing about PCs. Putting the hardware together won't be a problem, however, I'd be lying if I said I'm not a little intimidated about the process of making patches to the system once it turns over. Can someone refer me to a zero-beginner resource that would help me better understand patching, and how it works?

Thanks to everyone on this list.

    icchansan,

    Thanks for your response.

I did a keyword on my mobo in the tutorials, and nothing came up. There is some information there on a similar one. I think it was their previous version (a P35) that has been helpful. In any case, this will be a steep learning experience. It ain't gonna happen overnight.

I've seen a few comments already regarding the Realtek 8111c patch, of which none exits. Folks are recommending just installing a PCI ethernet card in lieu.

If anyone knows of a patch for the 8111c, that would be great.

I get all the hardware in a few days, but I'm doing my installation and patching research now.

    Will definitely report back.

Thanks again, Icchansan. I'll check it out and use it as a reference when I'm ready to install.
