Id like to talk about some experiences with PCI Firewire cards.

So far i have tried 1, a generic $12 pci (not pci-e) card from MSY.

On my board, ASUS P5ke/wifi the card works and is recognised as an extra pci bus in system profiler.

I had the following issues:
external isight has no audio, whereas when using onboard firewire isight audio is fine.

When capturing in final cut pro from hdv firewire device to an External firewire hard drive fcp fails to capture or crashes.


Clearly the card is not quite up to scratch. What have your experiences been like, please post away.
