I'm about to buy a new PC and I wonder if this is a risky combination for a osx86 build?

Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3R
Intel Core i5 750, 2.66GHz
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 260+ OC 896MB //Is this card 10.6 only?

And also, what is to prefer, 2 separate HDDs or 1 with 2 partitions for dual-booting with windows 7?

Yep, they support core i7. It's the new mainstream LGA 1156 socket.

I've read that someone in s korea was able to successfully install osx retail on that mb! But i don't know if that's trustworthy.

I cheked netkas site and I'm getting the feeling that maybe it's safer to go ATI 4870 or something similar?

Eh you didnt buy yet? yeh i think 9800 GTX, 4850/4870 will be easier to install

I have the ga-p55-ud3 mobo and have not yet sucessfully installed macos..... may be something with the new socket?

I'm currently watching 4 threads of people that are trying to get this motherboard to work properly. Some has been somewhat successful and some not. Which distros and methods did you use, and how far did you get?

chameleon 2 won´t start and I get a smbios error......
I´ve read in another post that someone tried the "iAtkos"? 1.7 and can boot with the -v cpus=1 busratio=20 flag.

This sounds promesing and I will try that.

I'll receive my i5 rig at monday! I'm still hopeful about getting this to work. But I guess that will change...

This went way above expectations! On my first try with iAtkos v7 almost everything worked! LAN, Audio. Even my GTX 260 with *QE and CI* out of the box. And everything runs very smooth and it boots in seconds

But ofc there are a few things that doesn't work as expected:
I have to boot with -v cpus=1 busratio=20

About This Mac result in a black screen and then back to desktop

*Actually QE and CI is not confirmed but front row, screensaver & dashboard works flawlessly.

After a while the sound gets crackles on playback. ALC888. Any ideas?

And it seems like i have no font smooting coz there is no difference when i change that option. This is a big disappointment coz thats one of the reasons i love OSX, their way to render fonts. Maybe there is a fix for that?
