    Default P43/ICH10 -vs- P45/ICH10R ? *UPDATE*...New Hardware Has Arrived!

Other than overclocking or RAID, would there be any advantage to using a P45/ICH10R chipset instead of a P43/ICH10?

I'm looking at a P43/ICH10 board (Gigabyte) to save $ and avoid a possibly tricky audio chip...any problems with that instead of a pricier P45/ICH10R setup?

They both should work without problem, now if you wanna know if they have any problem with audio, lan, etc, check in the HCL, compare prices and thats it ;D

That's what I figured, but I though I would ask to be sure.

The audio issue is only the difference between the ALC888 and the ALC889a.

I would prefer to use the ALC888 if I can, and I found the GA-EP43-UD3L should be a good fit.

    Well my parts are ordered...

    Gigabyte GA-EP43-UD3L
ZOTAC ZT-94TEH2D-FSL GeForce 9400 GT 512MB (no I'm not a gamer and usually use integrated graphics, so this is a powerful card for me )

I will be using my existing drives, Q6600 and 8 gigs of Corsair XMS2 PC2-6400C5.

OK, got my new hardware in.

The mobo is a GA-EP43UD3L (P43/ICH10) and the VGA card is a Zotac GF9400GT-DP with DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort.

Will post any issues I run into once I get started.

Default how is the ep43-ud3l setup going?

I have nearly the same setup. That I am going to start tonight.

    Gigabite ep43-ud3l
    Intel Core2Quad Q8200
    4GB DDR2 1066 Kingston
PNY GeForce 9500 Dual DVI and S-video out 512mb
    1TB SATA Maxtor OSX HD
40GB SATA Seagate WINXP PRO HD
    LG SATA DVD Burner
    Linksys WMP300N Wireless
    Thermotake Case w/ 500watt PSU
    BT dongle IOgear
2 port Firewire/ 4 USB port card... I forget who makes it.
    Wireless keyboard and mouse
    24" LG widescreen LCD monitor

I also have another setup that was working well with OSX and VISTA until I updated the BIOS when trying to reinstall with IATKOS 7. I will probably work on this tonight too.

    ECS g31t-m
    Intel Core2Duo 2.8
    4GB Crucial DDR2 800
    1.5TB HD Seagate
    LG SATA DVD Burner
    Geforce 9400 512mb
    Anetec Case and 500PSU
    USB PCI 4ports
    Airlink 101 BT
    Airlink 101 Wireless G

Any information you have on the Gigabite set up I would really appreciate.
