OSX86 on Sony Vaio S (VPCSA290X)
Hi all
I know there are a thousand of these posts, and I don't want to be that guy that makes another one, but here we are. I searched the forums and no one seems to be running a new Sony Vaio S (my model number is VPCSA290X).
The specs are as follows (trimmed for convenience):
Intel® Core™ i5 2520M processor (2.50GHz) with Turbo Boost up to 3.20GHz
13.3" LED backlit display (1600x900)
AMD Radeon™ HD 6630M (1GB VRAM) hybrid graphics with Intel® Wireless Display technology (hybrid w Intel HD 3000)
Blu-ray Disc™ player
It only arrived today (had it shipped from the US), but I have been keen to try my hand at osx86 for a while now. What better time than with a new laptop!
Ok, so I have done some reading etc, and I will apply myself a bit more to see what is required and to figure out what version of osx86 to download.
In the meantime, does anyone have any experience installing on a similar model of laptop / similar specc'd machine? I would love to run at least snow leopard, but will revert to an older version if necessary. What would you osx86 gurus recommend I start with? I was thinking iATKOS-v7-1-RC2, but that is only based on a cursory glance at this stuff.
Let me know if you need more details, I can run Everest or something when I get home to get more specific hardware details - that list is just ripped form the Sony website, which is pretty simplistic.
I am also only interested if I can duel-boot it with Windows 7, or more preferably tri-boot with Ubuntu 11.04 also (am I dreaming?). Ill be playing steam games so I need Windows 7 for the meantime (many of my preferred titles are not on osx steam yet).
Cheers for the help guys!

i assume u already have windows 7 installed ?
imho i'm highly suggest u get non-distro (iatkos/hazard)
i'm currently dualboot windows 7+lion 10.7.2
if u can get iatkos i guess it won't be difficult for u to get snow leopard dmg + lion dmg
so here is what i do:
install the snow leopard inside vmware
with the snow leopard installed inside vmware copy the lion dmg to flashdisk and then copy it to snow leopard
using disk utility restore the lion dmg into flashdisk
after the lion restore patch it with osinstall so it can install alongside windows 7
now u have lion flashdisk just like the $69 lion out there
use gparted live to create new partition with hfs+ type
boot using iboot or hackboot lion with the flashdisk plugin to u'r laptop to install lion
that's how i install lion
hope this can shed a light
