Newbie: Cheap Compatible Machine
Hi Everyone!
I am a complete newbie on building a hackintosh.
I've been reading many threads, and I am a little bit confused.
I have a PC machine that is on its last breath, and i want to replace it with a Leo machine.
I want to spend around 5-6 hundred dollars for the tower. I have a nice monitor already.
I would like a quad 2 core, with 4 gigs of ram, a decent video card (nothing extreme needed), 320 to 500 gb hard drive, WiFi (MUST HAVE), Bluetooth would be nice, and a decent DVD Burner.
I own a retail copy of 10.5.5
Here are my questions:
Can anyone recommend a good combination of hardware?
What's the easiest way of getting "Leo" up and running?
Since I own a retail disk it is Boot-123?
I would like the system to update normally. Which method is best for this?
I don't mind buying a build machine or building a machine.
Is this achievable?
Thanks in Advance!

Id say so..id also say that probably any modern AMD - Intel machine will run OSX (I say proberly bacause this is a hack..and there will also be elements of unknowns that you might have to figure out throu trial and error).
Easyest way? buy a mac..this is a hack it could take a hour or a week..
No idea about the Boot 123..ive never installed on a ragular install disk.
Updating can be a pain, both AMD and Intel updates have to be patched before installing...quite easy to do..thou always test on a 'test' partitian incase you screw it up.
Also Nvidia Graphics cards seemingly work best..its easy to get kext's (Drivers) for them to run..Ive yet to get any ATI cards to run properly (thou they will display the OS).
**Remember** Buy a legit copy of macos regardless -- support Apple and its developers!**

1- Theres a sticky about hardware combos... theres a cheap combo there...
2- Easy way, the distro, there alot these days...
3- If you wanna install Retail, use Munkys guide, is in the tutorial Sub-Forum, and yes after installation you can Update like a Real Mac...
Good Luck
