I have the asus p5n-e sli and tried everything with it and had not luck what so ever i just get to the boot screen and it doesn't worth with anything so am after a new board that will run the latest mac version on it along with my compatible hardware.

i have
4 Sata 2 Drives
1 ide 200gb
2 ide dvd rw drives
4gb of pc2 5300 ram kingston value 667 mghz
intel q6600 g0 stepping socket 775.
Zalman cooler
BFG nvidia 8800gts 640mb.
creative xfi extreme gamer sound card - if that wont work then online audio have 5.1 speakers
razer copperhead mouse
onboard lan where possible or a working pci or pci-e lan card

not fussed if its sli or not
and where possible to have ps2 ports for keyboard and mouse if needed.

looking for something stable that will run and have not problems and need the least patched of of the box and running at least 10.5.5 or 10.5.3/4

and be able to take vista x64 ultimate edition later on

i had a look on the hlc but was stuggling to make heads or tales, of it as there is some times more than one entry for each board.

i did have some looking at the list was unsure basically was looking for advice from all the sucessful hacking toshers out ther with the same hardware that i have to tell me what distro version they installed with what motherboard and same hardware as me and what bios they have and what installation ect they selected.

ps what does the stars mean

You can try with iAtkos r2 or Kalyway, all these board are fully compatible so u dont have to worry, just check what do you need, if you need extreme ones or a cheap one, you know... try with these distros and good luck.

Go into BIOS and set these options:

* HPET: Enabled
* Jmicron SATA Controller: Disable
* Onboard IEEE1394: Disable [you can enable it after the installation]

If any of them dont boot, in darwin type:

cpus=1 -v

i tired that with my current board but had not joy with atakos and kalaway what so ever tried cpus=1 -v . -v -f -s -x ect nothing works with it i dont understand why so thats why am opting for a new motherboard all to gether

But yeah your nforce mobos have alots of troubles, so try any on that list and you'll be ok ;D
