Hi everyone!

I'm new to hackintosh building but I'm very interested in starting a project myself. I've researched mac compatible hardware including the following materials:

Motherboard - GIGABYTE GA-H55M-S2V LGA 1156 Intel H55 Micro ATX
Processor - Intel Core i3 3.06 GHz
Video Card - GIGABYTE GeForce 8400 GS 512MB
Memory - 2x CORSAIR XMS 2GB DDR3 SDRAM
HDD - Western Digital 750GB SATA 3.0Gb/s

ASUS 24X DVD Reader/Burner

My goal however, is to house this in an old iMac G3 (tray-loading) shell.

My question for this forum is if anyone has ever attempted this and finished successfully!

I'd like to use as much of the original outer stock as possible and have even found walkthroughs of other's attempts at this, however, those people replaced the monitor with an lcd screen. For nostalgia's sake, I'd really like to leave in the ancient relic monitor

Has anyone been able to do something like this?
I was also wondering how drivers are installed. I'm aware of kexts, I just don't understand how they work. Is there one for every (or almost every) mac compatible video card, wifi card, etc?

Before I go out buying anything, I was hoping I could find some opinions on whether or not it will work.

This is my first time building a hackintosh and I want to use this experience to learn as much as I can. Somehow I doubt this will be the last one I attempt!

hey bud... hardware looks good. someone I work with (who i taught how to hackintosh) managed to do it... but it acts as a space heater. then again, hes running an i7 with watercooling and exterior radiator... its not exactly "portable". he said once he got the crt out, it was pretty simple. id HIGHLY reccomend converting it to LCD. oh, and its not pretty either...
im planning on doing one, as I have a better understanding of airflow in computer cases than he does, and I want to try it. when I do, i will post a how-to.
