Im assuming it has something to do with how drivers were customized during the installation.

I'm not a complete noob, but I am limited to using a GUI. no terminal exp.

I have no problems booting into the install DVD and using Disk Utilities to format the partition.

    First boot goes like this:

    No problems booting:

    No ethernet, no wifi.
---It's a Marvell Yukon 88056.. I think I installed both kexts on last install.
    (this is probably the issue?)
---Wifi is an Intel PCI-E chip (no kexts available in customize. I'm assuming I can install this later.)

VGA default to 1024x768 detecting 32MB on the VRAM.
---I'm going to try NVenabler as suggested on this install.

Sound Works Great, mic im unsure, motion eye internal cam has not been tested yet.

Trackpad and Keyboard work with Voodoo + trackpad
---The windows key does not represent CMD(apple key). Closing windows is a pain.. I'm guessing my hotkeys are gonna be all jacked up.

Did not do speedstep or throttling
Did not install BIOS or Chipset kexts
    Don't know what ACPI is.

Here are as much of the specs as I can get:

There is limited documentation regarding this notebook.
    Any help will be appreciated!
fyi: I have a very crappy cell phone image with the hardware profile on it.

    Sony Vaio VGN-FZ280E

    2.0 Ghz C2D T7250
    250 GB SATA
    2 GB RAM
    Sony 2X Blu-Ray R/RW
    NVIDIA 8400M GT
    Intel 4965 AGN wireless LAN
    Marvel Yukon 88056 10/100

dont know if this is relevant...
Intel Corporation, Mobile PM965/GM965/GL960 Memory Controller Hub

Thanks!. Anxious to see this since I do have a dual-xeon powermac g5 with leopard =)

note: 1220P 10/22 tried as many relative kexts in customize as i could be sure of (scrounging the forums) and I got a hangup during install -_-. I will try NVenabler and Marvel 88056 only.
NVkush caused a lengthy installation, but seems to work for my 8400M GT.

    will update later

    King,

I am installing using kalyway 10.5.2 on the following system

abit NF-M2S board using the onboard video Gforce 6100
    AMD 4200 x2 chip
    300 gig sata
    IDE dvd drive
    2 gigs of ram.

I get through the install and then it tells me to reboot, then just goes into boot loop.

any ideas? bios settings, other things I should be looking for?

i install the neccesary fixes for the amd on the kalyway disk, and necessary drivers. that I think I need.

any help would be greatly appreciated. I can get any other distro as well if I need it.

    Default cant install anything

Hi King, i just installed OS 10.5.7 using iATKOS v7 in my Acer Aspire 4710 laptop, it all seemed to work ok, even wifi, and safari and all, the problem is:

I havent been able to install pretty much ANYTHING, i tried skype, mozilla, messenger, utorrent, and it just wont let me install it, after the download it just shows a screen saying:

'You need to restart, hold the power button'

And it just freezes everything else, leaving me without a choice but to restart it manually and after that i go back from where i started, im wondering if i installed something wrong, or may be im missing somekind of driver or something. Im kinda new at this so i dont know what im doing wrong.

I also havent been able to use photoboot or such, says that my graphics card doesnt support photoboot. O and i cannot use the built in webcam.

I would really appreciate your help, thanks in advance !

i would like to build a mean machine that will last a while for my multimedia work on one end (where i want to use the mac OS for mainly Adobe CS4 products such as Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Premiere)
and for gaming and applications that cannot be run on macs such as 3D Max or Maya, etc... on the other end.

as a total beginner in this waters i don't know what else is important when choosing a "working" combination except the chipsets on the hardware.

    intel i7 860
    still deciding on
asus p7p55 EVO or Deluxe VS. gigabyte ga-p55-ud4 or ud5
(depends on which will work best on hackintosh, leaning towards asus)

are the ram spec important too?
    4x 2GB OCZ Platinum Enhanced Bandwidth DDR3 PC3-12800, 1600MHz, CL7

the above hardware is yet to be purchased and the motherboard can be exchanged for anything else as long as it supports SLI/Crossfire (for keeping the option open when exchanging the GPU) the main thing is that i can run macOSx software on it.

    i allready have:
gpu: Gainward GEForce 8800 GT, PCI-E, 512 MB DDR3 (i am and would like continue to use both video outputs)
    hdd1: Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 SATA NCQ 300831 (st3300831as)
    hdd2: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 SATA II 500630 (st3500630as)
hdd3: WD Caviar Green SATA II 500 GB (wd5000aacs)
wifi: DLink AirPlus DWL-g520 wireless pci (but can be left out of the final configuration)

    optical1: NEC DVD_RW ND-4571A
optical2: Optiarc DVD RW AD-7203S (SATA II)

how about a later upgrade ie. use of SLI/Crossfire? what do i need to check, or do, or what distribution to use there?

    what about the
    AMD athlon 64 3000+ (939)
    Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9
what to use there if i want to use this old fella for a macOSx workhorse?

ps: where (except here can i check which video cards, periferial components (webcams, wacom tablet, gaming wheels, keyboards,..) are supported by the distribution i will have installed, or what way do you recommed to come to the result without disturbing you everytime i want to exchange a hardware peace (in short: don't catch me a fish, learn me how (where) to fish)

probably some of the questions are quite noobish but, i don't know how to ask them otherwise, and am a little lost and preocupied with work to fully put my searchengine under pressure
can you forward me to some other post/topic/page/info, on how to make all this work when i will have the proper hardware inhouse(incase) and what to be aware of when doing all that. it can be n3rd t4lk, as i will probably understand almost everything.

thanks again and hope i was accurate enough with the description.
    Regards
    M

    300 gig sata

    2 gigs of ram.

I get through the install and then it tells me to reboot, then just goes into boot loop.

any ideas? bios settings, other things I should be looking for?

i install the neccesary fixes for the amd on the kalyway disk, and necessary drivers. that I think I need.

any help would be greatly appreciated. I can get any other distro as well if I need it.
    use IPC 10.5.6
9.5.0 Vanilla Kernel or 9.5.0 voodoo kernel if not working use an IDE HDD.

    Default Help Toshiba Drivers

Hello, i got the OS to start up properly, however I'm missing the audio and the networking (wireless and ethernet), Could you help me ?

The Wireless card: Atheros AR9281 wirelss network adapter
The Ethernet: Marvell Yukon 88E8040T PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller
The audio: Conexant High Definition Smart Audio

The version I used is iDeneb v1 since is the only one that seemed working, i also tried the 1.4 but failed and the iAtkos v7 but failed, haven't tried the new iDeneb v.1.5 or 1.6. because if i can find the drivers there i would download it.

I know a lot less about this topic than I'd like, but this seems like a great place to start.

    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-N650SLI-DS4 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard
    RAM: CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
    - three sticks total
    Video Card: XFX HD-485X-ZDFC Radeon HD 4850 1GB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16
    Harddrive: Maxtor 6Y250MO ... it's SATA and 250gigs, that's all I know.
    Ethernet, audio: on motherboard
Peripherals: Logitech G15 keyboard, Razer DeathAdder Mouse

I also have 3 other harddrives I could use: Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST31500341AS 1.5TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5", the 350gig model of that, and a Western Digital 160gig, also SATA.

I'd be happy to provide additional details. Any help, pointers, tips, directions are extremely welcomed. Thank you!
