Default Macbook and Vista 64 : Airport drivers ?

    Hi mates

I decided to take care of my Macbook Core2Duo 2Ghz : I bought 3Gig and installed Leo & Vista 64. To install Vista, I used bootcamp to create the partition, and then installed it without the help of bootcamp.

I previously made a CD of macbook's drivers, and used it in order to make Wifi, Sound and Keyboard work as well as in Leo, but the wifi drivers do not work under vista 64. Any idea ?

    Thank you :p

as far as I know, Vista 64 is not officially supported by Bootcamp so maybe that's the reason why wifi isn't working for you

Course noting that the latest reply was from January, before apple released 64bit drivers with the leopard CD for the new mac pros
I've gotten it to work on my MacBook (2.1Ghz Core2 Duo Penryn chipset)

Both with Vista x64 and XP x64

However theres a cavet, you can't run the Boot Camp x64 installer on anything but a Mac Pro. Instead you have to go into the driver's folder, and manually install the driver packs that are appropiate for your hardware. And in both ways you don't get the On Screen Display, nor do you get some hardware functionality.

On XP I got display and wifi working by:

Wifi/Airport : I simply chose a pre-existing Broadcom WLan Driver (b/g) and yet it seems to work even at N speed (how the hell I don't know).

Display drivers : went to Intel and downloaded the 965 (contains drivers for Intel GMA X3100) drivers for both XP 64 and Vista 64. Installed that and worked like a charm.

On Vista: Same way as above, except I was able to manually run the Broadcom installer from the leopard DVD. Vista will let you run the bluetooth enabler and installer where as XP won't. I got the Trackpad working in Vista where as I couldn't get right click or scroll gestures to work in XP.

Basically if you are going to use an external mouse (bluetooth or USB), once you got Graphic and Airport installed, XP x64 runs just fine (despite needing to use explorer to eject a CD).

And if things get really tricky (even the single installers not letting you run them), use something like 7zip (7zip.org) to unpack the installer files and access the driver files themselves from device manager.

Default Airport on MBP 2.33 Vista x64

    Thanks kb244!

I used the same technique to install airport on my MackBook Pro 2.33 on Vista x64.

For how might be interested the driver is Atheros, on Leopard's DVD. You can extract AtherosInstaller.exe with WinRAR as well.

    It is working very well.
    Again, thank you kb244!
