A little help?
I'm looking at building a hackintosh, and after a little research came up with this hardware list:
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS4
Processor: Core 2 Quard Q6600 (2.4GHz) w/ Scythe Shuriken
RAM: 4GB Kingston DDR2 RAM
Audio: M-Audio Delta 1010LT
Graphics: GeForce 7300GS
A few questions:
Firstly, will I be able to do a vanilla install on this? Being able to do updates direct from System Updater is ideal for me.
What extra kexts will I need to get it up and playing nicely?
What PCI-E firewire card would you guys (and girls) recommend for the setup? I'd love to be able to aggregate my M-Audio ProFire 2626 and Delta 1010LT, so working firewire is an absolute must, if it isn't supported on the mobo.
Basically, I'm building this as a cheaper version (although a few MHz short of the processor specs) of my old-fashioned Mac Pro, which I'm wanting to shift on ebay and free up some cash to pay off the dreaded overdraft. Bearing this in mind, any ideas for some improvements on this system? It needs to be able to run Pro Tools M-Powered and Logic Pro 7/8/9 well and without any pops/clicks in the audio stream as I work as a freelance producer.
Cheers, and sorry for the long post!
Yeah everything should work, you'll be running vanilla kernel and get ready for snow
You can check a guide for this mobo in the tutorial section, prepare yourself and try, good luck

Thanks for the reply - steampunk hackintosh build will soon be happening then! Will post pictures when it's done.
