Hardware compatibility check and suggestions
I'm a newbie... I read the sticky's and browsed a bit in the last few days. I'm about to buy the components for my first hackintosh and I'd like to know your opinions on this combo:
ASUS P5Q3 775 P45 FSB1600 4 DDR3 1600 PCI-E16X 8 Sata II IEEE1394a
INTEL CORE 2 QUAD Q6600 2.40GHz 8MBcache FSB1066 LGA775
ASUS GEFORCE 9600GT/HTDI/1G DDR3 PCI-E TOUT 2DVI HDMI HDCP
Kingston RAM 4GB 800MHZ DDR2 NON-ECC CL6 DIMM
moreover, I read suggestions about S-ATA dvd-writer and hard disk... but what would be your choices in terms of brand/model?
and I guess the power supply should be at least 750 watt, right?
Im also thinking about the ASUS P5Q3.
I have an intel core2duo chip that I am going to use to keep costs down but will probably upgrade to a Q6600 in future.
As for compatibility, I cant really help because I don't know that much yet. I do know that (from what I've read) the ASUS mobo will require some sort of patch/mod.
well, I just learned that the P5Q3 only supports DDR3 memory, so I would opt for model P5Q o P5Qpro. I read that for this series of mobo's flashing of the bios is indeed necessary, but I'm mostly concerned about how all the boards' features and connections are supported/available after the installation. so, suggestions are very welcome, thanks!
Theres guides for your mobo man, google a bit
