Okay, the Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 is listed by the OP in the first post in this thread. Gigabyte has apparently discontinued this board, and released an updated version (GA-X58A-UD5) which removes one x4 slot and apparently uses the x4 lanes for its new features: USB 3 and SATA III.

    Some questions:

    1. Does anyone have any experience with this GA-X58A-UD5 new version board?

    2. Does anyone have any experience with the other boards in the Gigabyte X58 series?

BTW, They're coming out with a new one (I believe GA-X58A-UD9) which will include USB 3, SATA III, and two nForce 200 chips, which help to power seven x16/x8 slots, this is apparently Gigabyte's answer to the EVGA Classified 4-way SLI board.

    3. On the topic of the EVGA Classified 4-way SLI (or 3-way SLI) boards, what kind of success has been had with Hackint0shing these models?

    4. What do the pros here think of ASUS X58 boards and their Hackt0sh potential?

I'm looking forward to reading your replies.

    Thanks

possibly really dumb question, but is there a good PC that I can buy that I don't have to assemble that will run OSX 10.5 or 10.6? I don't know what the difference between the i3,5, and 7 processours, and the multi core ones from Intel are.

I was looking at: Dell - Inspiron Desktop with Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor - I560-4000NBK

and this: although I'm not so into the looks on it, but it's setting behind a desk or something, so I don't have to stare.
    Asus - Essentio Desktop with Intel® Core™ i5 Processor - CG5275-AR003

What I would like is to get a silver Mac Pro case and put all the stuff inside that.

icchansan, thank you, I will check it out. I'm not sure how soon I'll be reporting back, since I'm not quite ready to build yet, but once I have something useful to report I'll be here

In regard to the EVGA 3-way or 4-way Classified boards, or the Asus board with seven x8/x16 slots, do you (or does anyone here) know of where I can look for more info on Hackint0shing with these boards?

    Thanks

Default GA-P55M-UD4 in a mATX case

Thanks xequtor for this list, it looks like a great rig. I'd like to put something like it in a micro-ATX case, however, and I'd sacrifice some graphics power to do it. Can you recommend a lighter-weight, shorter (passively cooled) graphics card?

I'd also like to keep the power and noise down; is a 300W power supply viable (adding a DVD burner to the mix)?

To the date: June 2010, what would be the best motherboard to buy if I already have (and need to use in it) for a perfect Hackintosh:

    - Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (socket 775 LGA)
    - 4GB DDR2 Ram memory

And I also have a... (I don't think this takes part in the decision... but...)

    - Nvidia Quadro FX 3500

And what would be a good mid range (less than $200) video card for the recommended Motherboard.

Thank you so much all !!!

    Xeikon

Default I need help with verifying if my hardware choices work

    Hi guys,

I have done iDeneb Hackintosh back in the leo days, and now I have a MBP 15".
But I want to build a desktop that is compatible for snow leopard.

I could use some help on choosing the hardware parts. Since the wiki at osx86 didn't have enough hardware options, I thought maybe you guys will know more.

    Budget: 1000USD.

    Here is what I got:

    Processor: i7-930 or i7-860
Graphics: GTX 470 or maybe ATI (please suggest ATI processors comparable to GTX 470)
MOBO: I want Gigabyte, please suggest some.

I have left out the RAM and HDD cause its probably not concerned.

You can suggest other combos if you like.

I will be building it within this week, so please reply ASAP.

    Thanks Guys in Advance!!!!!

    Hey guys,

Old Mac user, hackingt0s newbie here. I want to build a system for video editing. So far, I've decided to use:

    GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD5 LGA
    i7-930

Can someone please suggest a good Video Card to go with this combo? I think a 1GB card should be enough. What do you think?
Also, I would like to install two DVD burners, but would any DVD burner work with this system?

By the way, would I be able to install Snow Leopard with this configuration?

Any comments or suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
