    Default Dual Processor Motherboard

    Hi,,

I was going to save up for a mac pro but after looking into the hackintosh thing have decided to go this route.

As an ex-pc builder before getting a macbook pro, I am quite excited about building my own computer again.

I want to build a basic set up but with with the best parts to start and then add more RAM, graphics cards, HDs etc when it's up and running smoothly and my finances allow.

I'd like to start with one quad core cpu, I'm looking at the Q6600 2.4 ghz and then add another later on. But looking on ebuyer I can only find one mobo with dual sockets and thats over 400.

Can anyone recommend a dual cpu mobo for a hackintosh? Has anyone built an 8 core machine yet? Any advice?

Also what mobos do Apple use in the mac pro, I can't seem to find any info on this. Do they make their own or does intel make them?

Thanks in advance for any help.

You are looking for the wrong Socket Type...u need to look for the Xeon Processor Socket type then Google for the dual Board again.

    Thanks for the response.

I found a few dual motherboards (socket 771 for anyone else looking) Still a bit pricey for me right now, I think I'll stick with the mobo I found already. Upgrade the whole in system in a year or two.

For anyone else looking to find out the motherboard of the mac pro, I rephrased my search terms and found this
