DELL Latitude 2100 (NetBook)
I am new to this Forum. (I come from Germany). I have four Macintosh (2x Mac Mini C2D, iMac 24", MacBook Pro 17"). Now I have bought a DELL Netbook from the Business Line, with the following Hardware:
DELL Latitude 2100
- Intel Atom N270 (1.6GHZ, 533MHZ)
- Chipset/Graphic: Intel 945GME
- PCI/USB/SATA: 82801G ICH7 AHCI
- 1024 MB DDR2 (I will add a second module for 2GB)
- 10" WIDESCREEN WSVGA (1024X576)
- Color Blue
- Touchscreen (IDEACOM IDC 6680)
- WebCam (Suyin Corp. Integrated Webcam 1.3M)
- WDC WD1600BEVT-7 160GB SATA (5400RPM)
- 6-CELL 56W/HR LI-ION
- Broadcom NetXtreme BCM5764M Gigabit Ethernet
- Broadcom BCM4322 - DELL 1510 (802.11 A/B/G/N) Wireless LAN
- DELL Wireless 365 Bluetooth (Broadcom BCM2046B1)
- SD Card Slot - Realtek Mass Storage Device
- 3 Year Basic Wwarranty - Next Business Day
In the next Days / Weeks, I will try to transform it to a Hackint0sh. I read of goog results of the consumer Netbooks from DELL. So I hope it will work without much problems.
I will give you infos in this thread of my experiences. If another user have bought this netbook, I would like to share his knowlegde in this thread. If you have any tips for beginning/beginners, it would be great if you post it here. :-)
Greetings from Germany

Seems compatible, did you try already? you can take some guides with netbooks running OSX, like MSI WIND or EeePC, read about how to get it working and try, report back if you have any issues.
P.S. Not sure about your Video, Wifi or audio support, you have to post the chipsets
HP Pavilion Elite m9250f
Snow Leopard 10.6.6, Asus IPIBL-LB MOD BIOS, Intel Quad Core Q6600, 4GB RAM (800mhz), 2x500GB, nVidia 8600GT (Works), ALC888S (Works), Wireless RT73 (Works), LAN (Works) - How to Install

Hi, sorry, I must wait for dvd-rom, to begin.
I will post a lspci and so on, from a linux boot, to have exact details.
I have completed the hardware list of the netbook.
Under Fedora 11 (Installed via PXE boot) everthing works except the Touchscreen. I don't know why.. but I haven't enough time to solve the problem.
Can I install OS X via PXE?

Hi!! I'm back!
I have tried to install with iDeneb and with Boot 132 (Dell Mini 9). With both I have the same problem. The GMA 950 driver shows me on 10.5.8 a white display with black stripes. I cannot use OSX after update to 10.5.8. Virgin 10.5 works with the Driver in the Mini9 package from the tutorial.
Is there a newer driver available?
did this workout
what worked out of box, audio, graphics, network were you able to get the gigabit network to work, I have been looking for a gigabit netbook compatible with osx86 and would greatly appreciate your info.
Thanks in advance,
out-of-the-box works: w-lan, touchscreen
not working: network, bluetooth
not testet: audio, sd card
Not testet, because I haven't enough time. I spent 4 days and 4 nights to read in this project and my opinion is, it is not well documented. I have not found any driver repository and no complete HCL (the wiki HCL is splitted in OS X versions and far away of completness... thats not user friendly, even for a guy that have much linux knowledge, like me)
If I install iDeneb without graphics driver, I get the correct resolution and a working os x screen without problems, but without acceleration.
If I install GMA950 driver with the hex-fix, I get only a white screen with black stripes after boot. OS X runs, but I cannot use it. This occurs on 10.5.8. On 10.5.6 the driver is working correctly. If I correctly remember.. even with acceleration von 10.5.6
I gave up on this project with Dell 2100.
I'm not searching for a installation wizard, or an easy install tool, but I have no time, to search through thousands of threads and posts to find settings, drivers and other help info... Even the wiki isn't not good linked or helpfull or out-of-the-date or only hardware and osx version specific.
I like the idea with Boot132.. thats very great work! But what is the advantage of this? If Apple brings a new osx minor release.. I updated it.. and then I have new problems with drivers. And without a driver repository of alle drivers that this project have build or release, it makes no fun to experiment with it.
Are the drivers not open-source or illegaly or why is there no repo?
Sorry for my bad result. But I think for me it is better to buy a original mac. It saves time, money and nerves.
Now I have installed the new Windows 7 and I am very enthused of it. The touchscreen support for the dell ist very very very good!
Thank you at this board for helping me.
Try iDeneb 1.4

i already try with step 1 just click next, no need to select the "customized with Netbook MSI Wind and Kexthelper check marked".
Then need to manuallay install "Kexthelper".
But only i can display using external monitor. Built in display just shown light blue screen and if i switch Fn+F8 shown garbage display.
Wifi working fine, keyboard, mouse ok..
one more thing, at early stage of installation seems screen become black. Just close the lid and open back, the display will come back.
i use NetbookBootMaker 0.8.3 to boot up usb after restore usb using iDeneb 1.4.

Reason: added NetbookBootMaker 0.8.3 boot.
well i got mine working now with iDeneb 1.6 lite. just no wifi. probably because of the Intel2100BG card.
u got your wifi on? whatś ur wifi card?
but now i got the Snow Leopard and ideneb 1.6 lite. but the Snow Leopard wasn't that stable. certain apps can't run or just requires FORCE QUITING.
Ideneb 1.6Lite is a no problem, except no wifi.
however, ubuntu is perfectly fine on my Lat2100.....
