Hello all. I'm trying to set my system up as a media server streaming to my PS3. I have discovered that it works if my computer is connected wirelessly but will not show up on the PS3 if I connect the computer over ethernet. The PS3 gets detected on my computer using Medialink, but the Medialink server never shows up on the PS3. Checking the console, it returns the following error:
I started investigating my NIC and noticed that the MAC address is all zeros. Could this possibly be the problem? I can perform all other network tasks just fine and I was even able to run a media server to my Xbox 360 on the same machine using Connect360.Code:SSDPServer: Could not write to reply socket: NRSocket: Failed to set option 4 on socket!!
I tried hard-coding (spoofing) the MAC address for the NIC using a command such as
but my system just freezes up.Code:ifconfig en0 ether <MAC address>
I would have no problem streaming wirelessly but I can only get a stable conection on 802.11b which is low bandwidth and I must leave the network unsecured as the iwi2200 driver cannot connect to secured networks.
Any ideas on what might be preventing the media server from showing up on the PS3? If it infact is the MAC address, and tips on manually configuring it?
Specs:
iAtkos v7
Dell Latitude D610
Broadcom 57xx NetXtreme Integrated NIC - Device ID 1677
AppleBCM5751Ethernet.kext driver
Let me know if any more info is needed. Thanks for any help.
