    Default Apple Motherboards

Can I simply use an Apple Motherboard? I imagine I need to install something closer to the usual Mac OS X if I do this? Are there advantages to doing this?

Does using an Apple Motherboard limit my choices for other hardware, like video, sounds, and RAID cards? I've heard nasty stuff about Apple's RAID card.

I was considering dual booting Linux. I'm sure Linux supports Apple Motherboards just fine, but might Linux have any difficulty with non-Apple cards in an Apple Motherboard?

    Thanks, Jeff

Sure you'd be able to use an apple board but they're insanely expensive and there's a limited number of cases you'd be able to fit the board on, you'd be limited in the form factor too, that means the mac mini board and the imac boards are out of the question, that only leaves the mac pro board, and the only case you can put that on is the orig mac pro case, which costs a bomb as well, you'd prolly be better off buying a new orig apple mac. Other boards are easy and relatively flexible in terms of hardware requirements
As for other hardware you'd be more or less restricted to the stuff thats stock compatible with orig mac hardware.

@icchansan , you get apple mobos as replacement parts from some mac resellers, probably on ebay too
